Since Katie and Margaret are doing it (and I was encouraged to follow their lead), here's a somewhat tl:dr description of me.
I'm not saying my actual age - I think I've reached the point where it's acceptable/fashionable to lie about it, so I'll be doing just that. Mentally, I'm twelve.
I was born in Cascais, a seaside resort in Portugal known for its beautiful little Hellmouth. No, really, it has a Hellmouth. Needless to say, I giggle a lot when I watch Buffy. Anyway, I'm no longer living in Cascais but my dream is to return there some day.
I'm a proud bibliophile and bookaholic, with a degree in English/Portuguese Literature and a post-grad in Library Sciences. Sadly, apart from a 1-month internship in Lisbon, I never worked as a librarian - every time I applied to a job in that area, I was rejected for being "overqualified". I have also taken workshops in theatre and television scriptwriting (both, apparently, being the cause for my overqualification as a librarian for some odd reason), did some acting with a professional theatre company and did street performances as a clown. I've been doing doing desk jobs at my alma mater since early 2008 (and being treated rather rubbishly by my employers, I should add). My contract expires by the end of the month and I'm yet to be asked to renew it, so there's a chance I might join the ranks of the unemployed very soon.
I live with my parents and my 8-year-old twin cousins, who are rather problematic and have rather problematic parents. I call them "the Mad Twins" not because they're mad (though they can be) but because they're dark-haired miniature versions of Amy Pond, known by some Doctor Who fans as "the Mad Pony".
I draw and paint, though I don't think I'm that skilled at it. My favourite media is acrylic, and I'm currently in a monochrome stage, though I can't explain why.
I play the recorder - still badly, but I'm improving. The Second Doctor might have something to do with this...
Speaking of the Second Doctor, I've been a Doctor Who fan for some ten years, though I've only began to get involved in the fandom for the past two. Patrick Troughton is my favourite of the Doctors, and I'm very defensive of Colin Baker - he was (still is, in the audios) a great Doctor, and none of the problems that besotted the Sixth Doctor era in the TV show have anything to do with his portrayal; he did the best he could under the straining circumstances. Jamie McCrimmon has been my favourite companion ever since I discovered the Second Doctor's era (this is the moment that won me over, for those of you who are curious), but Fitz Kreiner has been trying to steal the position ever since I read the Eight Doctor novels.
Anyone who has accompanied my writing ever since I first joined LiveJournal knows that I like playing with badfic clichés and conventions, trying to make something readable out of material that would normally drive people away. Back when I dedicated myself to writing Harry Potter fanfiction, my pairing of choice was Lockhart/Mary Sue - which I'm sure is giving Hayley nightmares to this day. *g* Nowadays, my fics focus on Doctor Who, particularly on the pairing of Jamie/girl!Doctor. With Harry Potter, I'm now focusing exclusively on RPing and am trying to make complex characters rather than toy with ideas that might make people cringe. (Lockhart is still my favourite character to write, though.)
Thanks to a recent discovery, I'm currently obsessed with the band His Orchestra (featuring Douglas "Declan's PB" Smith on vocals.
And finally, my current celebrity crush is Callum Blue. He's my Fitz Kreiner muse, and I must add some shirtless icons of him here stat.
ETA: Oh yeah, and this is me. The photo is not very recent though - my hair's longer now...
And that's it. Any questions/doubts/whatever, feel free to ask.
